Habitat: Bed bug nymphs are young bed bugs that haven’t reached adulthood yet. They can be found in the same locations as adult bed bugs. Single-family homes, apartments, hotels, hospitals, schools and college campuses, office buildings, retail stores, movie theaters, and even public transportation.

Habits: 

  • Slow moving due to their short limbs and underdeveloped exoskeleton
  • Feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and mammals.
  • Grow rapidly, changing size every day.

Habitat: Found in proximity to bed bug infestations in houses, apartments, hotels, college dorms, and other places where people live or are frequently coming and going from. Bed bug eggs can often be found in mattress folds and crannies.

Habits: 

  • After five days, bed bug eggs develop a small eye spot.
  • Often found in clusters of dozens or hundreds of eggs.
  • Usually hatch within seven to ten days.

Characteristics: Long and narrow, colored black or reddish-brown

Legs: 6

Antennae: Yes, short and clubbed

Wings: Yes, two pairs

Habitat: In nature they’re found in moist and dead wood. Can be brought into the home through infested wood structures such as joists, floors and paneling. May also infest finished wood furniture pieces.

Habits:

  • Larvae feeds off of the starch, sugar and protein found in sapwood
  • Adult powderpost beetles do not eat wood
  • Can reinfest the same piece of wood over the course of generations
